System Overview
Zinc MAPS has been specifically developed to manage the review and approval of promotional materials, packaging and labelling within the pharmaceutical industry. The application provides a simple, highly intuitive interface for the management of materials undergoing review, harnessing the full capability of Adobe Acrobat to provide the gold–standard interface for review of materials.
Development of Zinc MAPS began in 2001 and regular upgrades as a result of user feedback have resulted in rapid enhancement of the application. We firmly believe that Zinc MAPS is the best approval solution available in the industry today. A summary of key functional areas of Zinc MAPS is outlined below, supported by screenshots where relevant.
Active Jobs
The “Active Jobs” screen presents each user with a personalised view of the jobs that they have been assigned to review. “Jobs” (items undergoing approval) are grouped according to whether action is required by the reviewer (the “Action” tab); the reviewer has finished their review on this cycle (the “Finished” tab); or the job is locked to the reviewer (the “Busy” tab). Originators also have a “My Jobs” tab which provides a summary of all jobs that they have created.

Job Summary
The “Job Summary” screen provides basic information about the job, including the name, number, target date, review team and workflow position. All team members have access to the job summary screen throughout the workflow lifecycle.

Route Map
The “Route Map” forms the tracking interface for Zinc MAPS. All workflow versions are detailed, complete with their corresponding version number, dates and duration of review. Live links to the PDF version files are included.

Review Window
The “Review Window” contains the job undergoing review, as well as key information about the job (target audience, objective etc). Links are provided to references and gallery items. The output of the previous workflow circulation is automatically included in the gallery to enable fast and efficient comparison with earlier versions of the job.
Adobe Acrobat is embedded within the Zinc MAPS browser window to ensure that the PDF file and the other components of the Review Window are seamlessly linked.

References
Zinc MAPS incorporates unique functionality to enable the hyperlinking of references to the corresponding item undergoing review.
A reviewer can choose either to view a summary of the part of the reference which supports a claim being made in the piece, or view the complete reference (see Figure 5). If the complete reference is viewed, the PDF automatically opens on the page where the quote appears.
When adding new references to a job, team members have the option to “Import” these references from other similar jobs (e.g. references from the sales aid can be imported into the campaign mailings). This leads to significant time savings when linking references.

Create New Job
Zinc MAPS enables nominated “Originators” to create new items / workflows. This involves completing 5 screens of information covering:
- Basic job details: this screen can be configured as required
- Team members
- Privilege options: the “View” / “Review” status of each team member
- Member sequence: the workflow through the team members
- Confirmation
